Fire Rated Acoustic Sealant

This fire rated acoustic sealant is a very high quality, high flexibility, silicone based sealant, which provides excellent acoustic properties due to its high movement capacity and elastic recovery. It is assessed to BS476: Part 20 giving up to 4 hours of fire resistance in suitable structures. It cures to form a tough, tack-free seal with excellent adhesion to a wide variety of building surfaces including plaster and wood.

To seal gaps in acoustic structures it is essential that the sealant used does not dry to a hard finish. The sealant must be flexible enough to provide a good seal as well as accommodate joist movement which is likely to occur over time. Failure to use a suitable sealant will seriously compromise the performance. Many sealants simply do not provide enough elasticity for acoustic purposes, especially intumescent versions which expand with heat.

Internal or external use

Main uses: For joints in compartment walls and floors, expansion joints, seals around lightweight partitioning, around fire rated doors and in service penetrations where the integrity of a fire wall needs to be maintained.
